2008-2009 WGHS PTSO Projects
- PRIDE CARD INCENTIVES – 2 times each year working with WGHS Admin.
- ORGANIZING COLLEGE PANELS – 2 times each year, calling WGHS alumni and asking them to speak to current students and families about their experiences.
- ORGANIZING PRINCIPAL FORUMS – Selecting a date and working with Mr. Armstrong’s schedule to help him be available to speak to WGHS families.
- ORGANIZING PARENT-TO-PARENT FORUMS – Selecting a date and asking parents to participate in sharing perspectives and ideas with each other.
- SCHOOL BEAUTIFICATION – 2 or 3 times during the year, usually on a Saturday. This work is often done with WGHS Service Club volunteers
- FUND RAISING FOR PTSO ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS – contacting businesses to support our organization.
- PTSO BULLETIN BOARD - 2 volunteers needed to update the bulletin board with WGHS accomplishments.
- CALLING FRESHMEN FAMILIES – calling to welcome new families each fall.
- SAT PREP SESSIONS - Saturday sessions organized by the PTSA.
- SUPPORTING OPEN HOUSE – and other school informational events.
- TWIRP DANCE - in the early spring each school year.
- SPIRIT WEAR – selling WGHS tees, sweatshirts and hoodies.
- WESTERN WISH LISTS - supporting the teachers by posting supply wish lists.
- SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY and SENIOR PICNIC – these are usually organized by Senior parents.
- WGHS BUZZ NEWSLETTER and WGHSParents.com SITE – information collected by PTSA Volunteers for WGHS Families.
- PUBLICITY for WGHS – a volunteer is needed to help promote WGHS accomplishments to the media.
- DESSERT LOTTERY FOR TEACHERS – The Dessert Lottery will be held the 3rd Friday of each month. All desserts need to be in a disposable container and in the office by 11am. The 2008 dates of the dessert lottery are: Sept 19, Oct 17, Nov 21, Dec 19. 2009 dates are: Jan 16, Feb 27, Mar 20, Apr 24 and May 15.
